As a Standardization Specialist/Engineer focused on Coherent Optics at Nokia, you will be a key player in shaping the future of optical networking standards within the OIF and ITU-T. You will collaborate closely with a dedicated standards team and leverage expertise from across Nokia to influence optical interface standards and drive innovation. Your work will involve drafting technical documents, representing Nokia in industry forums, and engaging with cross-functional teams in R&D and product management to align with our strategic goals. - Develop and refine specifications for advanced optical pluggable transceivers, ensuring they meet industry standards.
- Draft, edit, and manage technical contributions for OIF, ITU-T, and other relevant standards bodies to advance Nokia's objectives.
- Collaborate with internal experts to build consensus on strategic positions and maintain alignment with corporate goals.
- Coordinate participation in standards meetings, presenting contributions and documenting outcomes effectively.
- Monitor and analyze developments in optical networking standards to identify potential opportunities and risks for Nokia.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, product management, and legal, to ensure technical coherence.
- Utilize strong communication skills to represent Nokia’s interests in industry forums and with partners.
- Travel internationally as needed to engage with standards bodies and contribute to key meetings.
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field (PhD preferred)
- 7+ years of experience in optical networking or telecommunications
- Familiarity with standards organizations such as OIF, ITU-T, or IEEE
- Excellent technical writing and editing skills, proficient in collaborative document tools (e.g., Word, LaTeX, Git)
It would be nice if you also had:
- Experience serving as an editor or rapporteur in a standards body
- Knowledge of advanced pluggable transceivers (e.g., 400ZR(+), 800ZR(+), 1600ZR(+))
- Understanding of intellectual property considerations in standards work
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
