As a Hardware Architect at Nokia, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our leading DWDM transmission systems. You will develop and maintain innovative product architectures and detailed features for high-capacity transponders, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as ITU-T G.709 and G.798. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, providing technical guidance and support to R&D, product management, and customer teams. You'll work directly with cutting-edge technology while contributing to a collaborative, multi-national team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of telecommunications. - Design and innovate product architectures for packet-optical telecommunications focused on performance, cost, and capacity.
- Analyze market requirements and industry standards (e.g., ITU-T G.709, ITU-T G.798) to define detailed product features.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, offering technical support to R&D, product management, and customer teams.
- Coordinate development of features and concepts, aligning with operational requirements and use cases.
- Apply hands-on HW design experience to create solutions for high data rates (beyond 100Gbit/s).
- Stay abreast of telecommunications trends, ensuring designs meet industry benchmarks and customer expectations.
- Lead and mentor team members in a multidisciplinary, multi-site global environment.
- Communicate architectural concepts and project progress effectively to stakeholders and partners.
- Good technical understanding of optical network equipment, such as transport and switching network elements for OTN, DWDM and Ethernet transport; optical interfaces for DWDM systems; OTN and SDH protection technologies and synchronization in telecommunication networks.
You have:
- BSc/MSc/PhD degree in relevant field
- Minimum 5 years experience in hardware development for telecommunication systems
- In-depth knowledge of ITU-T G.709 and Ethernet standards (IEEE 802.3)
- Hands-on experience in hardware design for DWDM and related telecommunications products
It would be nice if you also had:
- Expertise in optical network equipment, including OTN, DWDM, and Ethernet transport
- Familiarity with industry trends and standards in telecommunications networks
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary, multi-site, and multi-national team environment
