Who we are
Helsing is a defence AI company. Our mission is to protect our democracies. We aim to achieve technological leadership, so that open societies can continue to make sovereign decisions and control their ethical standards.
As democracies, we believe we have a special responsibility to be thoughtful about the development and deployment of powerful technologies like AI. We take this responsibility seriously.
We are an ambitious and committed team of engineers, AI specialists and customer-facing programme managers. We are looking for mission-driven people to join our European teams – and apply their skills to solve the most complex and impactful problems. We embrace an open and transparent culture that welcomes healthy debates on the use of technology in defence, its benefits, and its ethical implications.
The role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Certification Expert to join our team. This pivotal role requires a professional with a strong background in software, electronics, and system-level certification programs. The ideal candidate will have participated in the entire lifecycle of a certification program and possess deep expertise in critical aerospace standards. This is a hybrid position, offering flexibility while ensuring collaborative team engagement. Depending on program needs, this expert may serve as both a Quality Assurance Engineer and a Certification Verification Engineer (CVE).
The day-to-day
Lead and participate in all phases of the certification lifecycle for complex software, electronics, and system developments, from planning through verification and approval.
Apply in-depth knowledge of aerospace certification standards, specifically DO-178C, DO-254, and/or ARP4754A/B, to ensure compliance.
Act as a Quality Assurance Engineer, overseeing process adherence, conducting audits, and ensuring the quality of certification artifacts.
Perform duties as a Certification Verification Engineer (CVE), reviewing and approving certification data and evidence.
Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate certification requirements into design and development processes.
Interface with regulatory authorities, including military authorities, as needed to support certification efforts.
Prepare and present certification plans, reports, and documentation to internal stakeholders and external authorities.
You should apply if you
You possess significant experience as a Certification Expert with a focus on software, electronics, and system-level certification.
You have actively participated in the full lifecycle of at least one major certification program.
You are proficient in at least one of the following standards: DO-178C, DO-254, or ARP4754A/B, and are eager to expand your expertise in the others.
You are capable of acting as both a Quality Assurance Engineer and a Certification Verification Engineer (CVE).
You thrive in a hybrid work environment.
Hold, or are demonstrably eligible to obtain, the required level of security clearance.
Note: We operate in an industry where women, as well as other minority groups, are systematically under-represented. We encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet all the listed qualifications; ability and impact cannot be summarised in a few bullet points.
Nice to Have
Understanding of evolving airworthiness requirements related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cybersecurity.
Experience interacting with military authorities in a certification context.
