A global technology infrastructure provider is looking for an experienced Data Center Technician 4 to support operations at their customer’s data center in Frankfurt. The ideal candidate has strong hardware, cabling, and IT troubleshooting skills, takes initiative, and works with precision and professionalism. This is a senior-level role involving both hands-on technical work and mentoring responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform hardware diagnostics, component replacement, and general troubleshooting of servers and related infrastructure.
Prepare, stage, install, and decommission data center hardware (e.g., racks, drives, switches) following defined procedures and checklists.
Conduct quality checks to ensure all systems are properly grounded, labeled, and connected according to safety protocols and design standards.
Create and maintain technical documentation including SOPs, knowledge base articles, and lessons learned.
Lead incident response activities, escalate issues when necessary, and work closely with internal and customer teams to ensure timely resolution.
Provide mentorship and training to junior technicians in the field.
Assist with new product rollouts and contribute to failure analysis investigations.
Collaborate with engineering teams by offering feedback on system integration and serviceability.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, including PPE use, ladder safety, and lifting procedures.
Required Skills and Experience:
8+ years of experience in data center operations or hardware support.
Strong knowledge of server hardware and typical failure types.
Hands-on experience in diagnosing and resolving hardware and cabling issues.
Familiarity with IPMI tools, firmware updates, and system testing.
Experience with Windows Server, WinPE, and basic Linux administration.
Ability to troubleshoot networking across Layers 1–3.
Knowledge of PXE, DHCP, WDS, FTP, and virtual machine configuration.
Experience with failure analysis and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within global teams.
Excellent communication skills and customer-focused mindset.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.
Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Server+, CCENT, or CCNA.
MCP or MSCE certification is a plus.
Scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Python, Bash) is desirable.
Experience working in live deployment environments is an advantage.
