About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our high-growth company as an Advisory Specialist (Banking), playing a pivotal role in the rapidly evolving ESG reporting and sustainable finance landscape. As part of our Advisory team, you will provide expert ESG guidance to leading banks and financial services institutions, combining deep subject-matter expertise with hands-on client engagement.
You will work closely with clients to design and implement end-to-end ESG reporting strategies, align with EU regulations, and deliver tangible value by connecting non-financial performance to financial outcomes. At the same time, you’ll act as a trusted partner - managing relationships and ensuring that our digital solutions are seamlessly integrated into client workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of clients, with a primary focus on banks, and provide end-to-end support on ESG matters. Deliver tailored advisory to help clients implement effective sustainability strategies in line with sector-specific expectations.
- Guide clients through the annual sustainability reporting cycle, ensuring alignment with key EU regulations. Interpret and operationalize regulatory expectations such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), including double materiality assessments and ESRS disclosures, or application of the VSME.
- Lead the implementation of GHG accounting methodologies tailored for financial institutions, including financed emissions calculations based on the PCAF standard. Support clients in calculating their carbon footprint and preparing for audit-readiness.
- Stay ahead of EU and German regulatory developments. Interpret technical guidance and translate it into actionable implementation steps for clients. Track developments in the EBA’s ESG risk roadmap, ECB expectations, and BaFin interpretations.
- Develop high-quality presentations, and strategy documents using both quantitative and qualitative ESG data. Facilitate stakeholder workshops and board-level discussions to strengthen client capabilities and foster ownership of ESG implementation.
- Collaborate with our product and engineering teams to translate client needs into software enhancements. Provide feedback based on pilot projects and client pain points to ensure our tools continue to lead the market in usability and regulatory alignment.
- Support the sales team in pre-sales discussions with banks, offering subject matter insights and guidance on implementation scope. Help shape go-to-market messaging for the banking sector.
Requirements
- You have at least 2 years relevant experience in the ESG sector (e.g. sustainable finance, non-financial risk management, ESG advisory)
- You have proven experience in the banking industry and possess the skills to work effectively with financial services clients.
- You are well-versed in EU sustainability regulations and standards applicable to banks, including MaRisk, EBA, CSRD and PCAF.
- You not only have experience in client-facing roles and but also possess the ability to fully manage and drive client relationships. You independently lead end-to-end projects, providing expertise to senior stakeholders on ESG and sustainability reporting requirements.
- You have exceptional analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- You are results-driven and have a solution-oriented mindset.
- You must be proficient in PowerPoint and Excel. Additional data/programming skills are a bonus.
- You must be fluent in both German and English.
Location
We are a remote-first company. You can either work out of our headquarters in Berlin or remotely. Choose the setup that works best for you. Remote locations should be within +/- 3 hours of CET time. We regularly get together at co-location weeks to strengthen a great culture across geographies.
