The Photovoltaics Division at the Department of Physics is dealing primarily with silicon photovoltaics and belongs to the leading institutions in this area, world-wide. The open position is within a BMWE publicly funded collaborative project with university and industry partners. The project deals with the development of highest efficiency silicon solar cells with passivating contacts for an application in tandem solar cells. The Photovoltaics Division is in this project responsible for the development of solar cells and their detailed characterization with regard to the implementation of novel functional layers.
Your Responsibilities
- Development of highest efficiency silicon solar cells with passivating contacts in the cleanroom labora-tory of University of Konstanz
- Characterization and development of functional layers and contact structures
- Development of characterization methods and suitable evaluation procedures
- Writing scientific articles
- Reporting orally and in writing about your work internally and within the consortium
- Supporting research and teaching
- Degree in physics, nanoscience, electrical engineering or similar (Diploma or Master)
- Experimental work in a highly motivated team is a pleasure for you
- High capacity for teamwork, high self-motivation, strong commitment
- Very good knowledge of semiconductor physics, experience in solar cell processing is desirable
- Strong communication skills in English, German is an advantage
- Open-minded and highly motivated, interdisciplinary team
- An interesting combination of basic research & applied science
- Contribution to the “Energiewende” by improving photovoltaics
