The department of RAN Architecture in Nokia Standards, Munich, offers the opportunity for a master student to gain practical experience through working with highly skilled colleagues in a scientific environment and contributing to future-looking projects.
Ray Tracer Calibration Path:
- Set up and validate a calibration framework for selected ray tracers (e.g., MirrorBTS (Nokia internal tool), Sionna) using existing measurement data.
- Collaborate with OAI for joint calibration activities, potentially integrating OAI as a calibration tool.
Feature Testing Path:
- Continue ongoing work (e.g., SAMPO platform) to ensure compatibility and realistic feature simulation for later OAI integration.
- Analyze OAI’s beam management processes, adapt simulation models accordingly, and prepare code for real-world testing.
- Implement and validate features within OAI’s open-source 3GPP stack, in a potential research internship collaboration with EUROCOM.
Expected Outcomes:
- Validated calibration methods for ray tracing tools and feature implementations in OAI.
- Demonstrated relevance to mobility network performance improvements, in particular deterministic modeling of the radio channel for efficient implementation of AI/ML algorithms.
