The Position
Take on a once-in-a-career opportunity and shape the future of Hive’s Growth by leading our Outbound Marketing Channels (E-Mail & Events) as well as our Global Sales Development Team! As our first Head of Outbound Marketing, you’ll design, build, and lead a world-class outbound engine — spanning automated outreach via mail and social channels, events, and to ensure your automations actually lead to results, our whole 30+ FTE SDR team — to generate high-quality demos and fuel our next growth phase. This is a hands-on, high-impact role with budget ownership, team-building opportunities, and direct access to C-level leaders, intending to take Hive from hypergrowth to IPO.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Generate true impact: Generate new qualified opportunities (demos held) for Hive to grow the customer base that truly transforms the way they do operations. You basically are steering one of the key components of our growth engine.
- Develop the new best practice: Design and implement a comprehensive Outbound Marketing (Events & Automated Outreach) and Sales Development playbook that rivals and beats the frontrunners in this space, enhancing growth, and hyperscale Hive.
- Raise the bar & go the extra mile: In the world of AI and omnipresence of easy to digest knowledge and best practices, “good is not good enough” anymore. You understand this mantra and want to bring true excellence into Outbound Marketing & Sales Development, both in strategy, creativity and execution excellence. You also are not afraid of the new world, but use it to our advantage so that we are leading not lagging.
- Speak many languages: You are leading a team of individuals overlooking 6 different European countries (more to come) and need to ensure that global standards are met, but local differences are not neglected.
- Prioritize and systemize: As part of the Growth Leadership, you need to ensure that the areas we are working on in the Inbound Marketing team are actually the ones that support our business targets. Yes, for example an improved design might increase conversion by 0.2% but if a process improvement of how leads get distributed might increase the conversion rate by 2%, we should always focus on what matters most.
- Be hands-on and actually build something: This is not just theoretical work, but a job that isn’t done when the concept is beautiful, but only when impact is truly felt. There is a budget to build a team, hire experts, but at Hive we don’t take ourselves too seriously, but the business.
Your Profile
We are looking for someone who is:
- Ultra driven: In the end change happens, when we make change happen. This means being on top of it, owning your targets, your team and initiatives, driving them independently and ensuring you are actually generating impact.
- Passion for Outbound Marketing & Sales Development: You should not just like Outbound Channels, but actually love them and strive to become one of the thought leaders out there. You are also interested in the interconnectivity of sales and marketing and understand that excellent targeting, and excellent outreach lead to true results.
- Leadership experience: Initial leadership experience is required. This does not necessarily need to be 10 years of directional leadership, but enough so that leading and best even leading of leaders, interviewing, and performance managing is not completely new for you, but the basics are solid and you have enough gravitas to become a true leader.
- Systematic & Analytical mindset: You need to ensure that you actually do not build quick fixes, but create logical systems (incl. the usage of automation/AI tools) to build processes that last and reduce the manual work to ensure they are performing at peak level, which requires a high level of analytics, logical thinking and nag to system building.
- Proactivity & ownership: You are owning the success of your larger team, meaning you need to continuously want to strive to be better, identify new areas of improvement and ensure we are moving the goal post. While the CGO will help you with this and not get lost, this is a role that needs you to act with proactivity and as a true owner, rather than expecting clear guidelines.
- Preferably personal sales skills: Leading a sales development team, without any knowledge about the role or at least the willingness to jump in as well, will not be as fruitful and convincing to your team. Does this mean you need to have 5 years experience, no - but having felt the pressure, understanding the psychology and having seen best practice processes, can definitely help.
- Organisational talent & attention to detail: Leading one of the key upper funnel teams both needs structure and organisational talent, as well as a high level of attention to detail, as 80/20 in marketing excellence died.
