Student Assistant for the International Climate Policy Division (all genders)

To support the International Climate Policy division to work on “Climate and Energy Diplomacy and Cooperation EU/Germany and China”, we are looking for a student assistant to join our team starting in October 2025, for 16–20 hours per week, contingent on the success of submitted project proposals.

Your main tasks will include:

• Research on climate and energy transition-related topics regarding Germany, the EU and China
• Assisting in developing policy briefs and other types of publications
• Organisational support in the preparation, implementation and follow-up of events
• Support with general office activities and other administrative tasks
• Summarising and condensing webinars, speeches, and other material.

We look for a candidate with:

• Interest in working at an NGO with a focus on international climate policy
• Registration as an active student at a German higher education institute, with at least 3 Semesters for Bachelor students or a 1st semester registration for Master students, preferably in the fields related to politics, sustainable development, climate, or renewable energy.
• Fluency in English (required), basic German (advisable)
• Sinology and Chinese language skills as well as experience abroad are a strong asset
• Experience in reading research papers and policy documents
• Background knowledge of Chinese policy frameworks and international relations, especially on the topic of climate, just transition, and energy transition (preferred, but not required)
• Good command of the MS-Office suite, Zoom, and other tools required for internet-based research
• Independence, diligence, ability to work in a team, initiative, reliability

• Compensation based on the German public sector pay scale (TVöD Bund): EG2 for Bachelor students and EG3 for Bachelor graduates. This currently corresponds to an hourly wage of €12.94 or €13.95, respectively
• 30 days of annual leave based on a 5-day work week (2.5 days of leave per full month)
