We investigate how cancer develops, identify cancer risk factors and look for new cancer prevention strategies. We develop new methods with which tumors can be diagnosed more precisely and cancer patients can be treated more successfully. The Division of Policy and Implementation Research for Cancer Prevention at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) is conducting a research project on the geospatial analysis of tobacco and alcohol retail environments.
To support the data collection for the geolocation of tobacco and alcohol sales outlets in Mannheim, we are seeking from August 2025 a motivated
YOUR TASKS
Over a period of two months, you will collect various geolocation data on tobacco and alcohol outlets (restaurants, bars, pubs, supermarkets, kiosks, drugstores, gas stations, and other retail locations, etc.) across various neighborhoods in Mannheim. The data will be collected using OsmAnd mobile mapping app.
Training will be provided on the use of the OsmAnd app, data collection protocols, and ethical considerations.
YOUR PROFILE
- Valid certificate of enrollment
- Previous experience in data collection is a plus
- Primary communication is in English, but German knowledge is a plus
- Data collection involves walking and cycling through assigned areas to record coordinates of all tobacco and alcohol outlets. Physical mobility is therefore needed.
