In short, we connect chips to create powerful and energy-efficient networks, overcoming connectivity limitations in the semiconductor industry. We deliver the graphene solution Black Semiconductor is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Principal Process Engineer – Photolithography (f/m/d) to join our semiconductor fab team. In this pivotal role, you will contribute across a range of lithography topics and take full ownership of bringing photolithography processes online for new layers in a state-of-the-art facility. Your ability to rapidly stabilize and optimize litho strategies and processes will directly impact both our short-term operational success and long-term manufacturing efficiency
The ideal candidate will play a critical role in the Engineering team across the lithographic coat, expose, and develop process steps, while also providing essential input into our mask layout design and litho-metrology initiatives
- Contribute expert advice to a cross-functional team planning and selecting candidate resist materials and mask specifications to establish patterning capability for all manufactured layers in the pilot line
- Provide technical guidance in mask-layout deployment of alignment marks and overlay features supporting an alignment strategy for all products
- Lead the qualification and commissioning of the Lithography cluster equipment, ensuring alignment with operational requirements and technical specifications
- Set a development roadmap and execute incremental performance improvements over months/years for improved patterning performance for graphene, a mono-atomic thickness 2D material. Explore capabilities of novel resist stacks together with team in integration, etch, clean, and characterization roles
- Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting and resolving issues specific to lithography processes and equipment, minimizing downtime and enhancing overall device yield and productivity
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation regarding technology transfer, equipment qualification, and module development specific to the lithography area
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians, sharing knowledge of lithography cluster equipment and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in Process Engineering focused on lithography cluster equipment in a semiconductor manufacturing environment (FAB), including coating on TEL or DNS tracks and exposure using ASML or Nikon equipment; DUV experience is preferred
- Experience in both operational support of production lithography processes and new layer process-development activities, including expertise in designing alignment tree strategies and overlay modeling/strategy. Experience beyond technology transfer is required
- Strong understanding of lithography processes impacts overall wafer processing
- Proficient in data analysis and process control methodologies, including Statistical Process Control (SPC) tailored to lithography processes
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and train staff. Excellency in English language is required
- Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards relevant to semiconductor manufacturing, especially lithography technologies
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
