Main Purpose of the role
Monitor vessel positions include issuing and updating vessel schedule/ rotation. Assist vessel needs. Support Head of Operations Europe, Special Cargo and Logistics Department.
Ensure that ZIM provides the best service for its customers in line with the corporate strategy, best practices and a positive culture aligned with the company’s values.
Key Responsibilities
Vessel Planning & Operational Support
- Monitor and track vessel positions regularly.
- Check, update, and maintain schedules for mainline and feeder vessels.
- Assist in vessel-related matters, including reefer spare kits, crew requirements, and damage control.
- Support marine operations by verifying vessel schedules and rotations.
Coordination & Communication
- Act as a liaison between European ZIM agencies and the Head Office in Haifa, Israel.
- Support the Head of Operations Europe with issuing vessel schedules and rotations.
- Distribute updated feeder schedules and routing guidelines as needed.
Special Cargo & Logistics Support
- Provide assistance to the Special Cargo Desk as required.
- Negotiate feeder service rates (standard, IMO, OOG) in line with departmental guidance.
- Prepare feeder pricing and route planning under the supervision of the department head.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Collect and prepare statistics and KPIs for internal reporting.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on vendor performance across the region.
- Identify performance gaps and areas of success.
Vendor & Procurement Management
- Fulfill daily procurement needs and support vendor engagement.
- Update and manage vendor agreements in ZIM systems and ensure proper documentation and filing.
- Maintain up-to-date information on the ZIM service network.
System Updates & Administrative Support
- Ensure vessel voyage closures are accurately recorded in Agenteam.
- Regularly update feeder schedules and service changes in relevant systems.
- Prepare and distribute circulars and routing guidelines to the network
Requirements
- Preferred Professional Knowledge: Apprenticeship in Shipping or a similar field
- Several years ’of relevant professional experience in the shipping industry (preferred)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Fluent in English (required); German language skills are an advantage
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities
- Proactive, hands-on approach with a solution-oriented mindset
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage tasks under tight deadlines
- Demonstrated team spirit and collaboration
- Capable of performing under pressure and making quick decisions in line with company policies and legal standards
