Job Description
As Head of INFICON Leak Detection Software Development, you will assume technical and disciplinary responsibility for our well-coordinated team of 10 developers. Your focus will be on the successful implementation of software projects in a hardware-related environment, combined with high standards of user-friendliness and modern user interfaces. In line with our people-oriented values, you will actively promote the implementation of technological developments and innovations with AI support and agile methods through a performance-enhancing team culture. With a keen strategic eye, you will promote the personal development of your employees, thus preparing the department for the demands of the future.
Your tasks:
- Management and further development of software development and its integration into interdisciplinary project teams
- Coaching and mentoring of your team members
- Responsibility for planning, implementation, and quality assurance of all software projects (embedded, GUI)
- Promotion of agile, collaborative, and proactive working methods (especially Scrum/Kanban)
- Ensuring efficient development processes using modern tools and AI support – for early time-to-market, high code quality, and excellent test coverage
- Close collaboration with product management, hardware development, service, production engineering, and teams at various international INFICON locations
- Selection, coordination, and management of external service providers
- Designing software architecture, interfaces, and well-thought-out, user-centered UI concepts
- Monitoring technological trends (e.g., IoT, AI, edge computing) and their strategic use
Qualifications
This is what you have to offer:
- Degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a comparable field; alternatively, proven long-term experience in software engineering
- Relevant professional experience in leading and developing development teams
- Routine in dealing with AI-supported software development – for example, through code generation, copilots, or ML-based tools – as well as a keen sense for modern and intuitive user interfaces in the desktop and web areas
- Confident in dealing with agile methods, code reviews, and modern testing procedures
- A high degree of social competence as well as strong communication skills, organizational skills, and initiative
- Very good written and spoken German and English
- Experience in hardware-related development (e.g., Embedded C/C++, Yocto) and knowledge of C#, Python, or modern web technologies (e.g., TypeScript, Angular, React) are an advantage
- International experience is desirable but not a prerequisite
