Our Finance team is the backbone of Choco’s global growth. From Berlin to New York, we ensure the financial infrastructure supports our ambitions—whether that’s launching new markets, managing acquisitions, or building systems that scale. We're the stewards of financial integrity and the enablers of smart decision-making.
As a Senior Accountant, you'll take ownership of core accounting operations across multiple entities. You’ll help us evolve our financial processes while keeping us compliant with HGB, IFRS, and local tax laws. This is a hands-on role at the intersection of accuracy, automation, and impact.
What you’ll do
Own the month-end and year-end closing process across multiple entities
Prepare financial statements under HGB and support IFRS consolidation
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations: AP, AR, payroll, and tax filings
Manage VAT, corporate tax, and payroll tax compliance in Germany
Support financial forecasting, SaaS revenue recognition, and cash flow insights
Collaborate with auditors, tax advisors, and cross-functional teams
Continuously improve and automate finance processes
Mentor and support junior team members as we grow
The ideal candidate
Fluent in German and English (written and spoken)
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics—or certified training (Bilanzbuchhalter IHK, Steuerfachwirt, etc.)
5+ years experience in finance/accounting roles, ideally in SaaS or fast-scaling environments
Strong knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and tax regulations
Initial experience with IFRS and group reporting
Proficient in tools like DATEV, Lucanet, MS Business Central, Xero, and Excel/Google Sheets
Proactive, detail-oriented, and hands-on
Bonus: experience with SaaS revenue models, Stripe, multi-entity/multi-currency environments, or mentoring others
