Job Title:
Research Scientist (m/f/d) CAS, P&E Technology
Summary:
In this role in the CAS/PE segment you will focus on synthesizing novel additives in the lab, followed by scaling up to production to support the segment's growth strategy in new applications.
Responsibilities Include:
- Perform synthesis and analytical characterization (NMR, mass spectrometry, light spectrometry, titration, etc.) of new additives.
- Collaborate closely with process technology and manufacturing to scale up laboratory experiments to mass production.
- On-site and requires significant presence in lab to conduct experiments to develop and characterize new additives. Plans and organizes laboratory activities in conformance with local safety and legal regulations.
- Communicates effectively within internal and external project teams. Reports project status and outcome to the global organization. Conducts technical documentation (lab journal). Documents and authors completed tasks or project related technical reports, including final project documentation.
- Requires good understanding of segment product portfolio and customer needs to support NPI projects growth.
- Participates occasionally in direct interactions with customers and/or suppliers, e.g., to clarify technical details, address questions regarding existing products, or support improvement initiatives.
- Execute complex or multiple projects and experiments independently with minimal guidance in lab environment, in close cooperation with internal and external partners.
- Execute literature research independently and collaborate with IP team to conduct IP landscape searches, patentability assessments and freedom-to-practice evaluations of new technology concepts.
- Draft Invention Disclosures and work with IP team to patent new ideas and technologies leveraging understanding of the IP landscape.
- Ability to conduct safety meetings in different forums/meetings, identify and report unsafe work practices beyond self. Foster and promote a safe work environment.
- Seamless integration into the global team and maintain close partnerships with the corporate and operational business functions (Technology, Marketing and Sales).
Qualifications:
The following are required for the role
- PhD with multi annual years of experience, or M.S. with several years of experience, with degree in Synthetic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science.
- Technical expertise in organic synthesis and analytical characterization of complex structures and compounds.
- Hands on experience in process development for large scale manufacturing.
- Prior success of scaling up lab development to plant production.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously and work in a global cross-functional team environment.
- Strong scientific background through publications in high-level scientific journals, patents or presentations at international conferences or fairs.
- Shows interest in the product portfolio and application; Creative "out-of-the-box" thinker
- Self-initiative, highly motivated with strong team spirit as well as social and intercultural competency
- Excellent oral and written communications skills in English as well as good German language skills.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
