Logistics team lead
We are now looking for a
Logistics Team leader
to join our our Team working for a better future. The position is permanent and the location is in Hamburg, Germany.
As Logistics Team leader, your work will focus on these responsibilities:
- Lead the logistics team within SES and review and manage support agreements within Wärtsilä to achieve the smooth flow of goods both inbound and outbound for all deliveries within SES
- Oversee the execution of logistics activities to support SES business activities
- Process owner for logistics activities within SES ensuring continuous improvement
- Liaison with Power Supply logistics team for the handling of outbound logistics on Newbuild projects
- Assist in the establishment of new logistics paths and troubleshoot where challenges arise in ongoing operational logistics matters
- Ensuring, together with Logistics Category team, relevant frame agreements are in place for packing and logistics
- Ensuring that our obligations in terms of dangerous goods transport, export control and customs control are met at all times
- Follow up workload and on time delivery reports to ensure full over-sight of outbound logistics within SES between projects and logistics function
- Review and correct delivery instructions (e.g., adjusting delivery ad-dresses, Incoterms, shipping methods in coordination with the re-spective project manager)
- Ensuring all shipping-related documents, such as: packing lists, delivery notes, pro forma invoices, certificates of origin, etc (including for processing under let-ters of credit, if applicable)
- Handling of dangerous goods documentation together with supplier, purchasers and forwarders (documentation and compliance with IATA / ADR regulations)
- Initiating export declarations / customs clearance via the ATLAS elec-tronic customs system (for third countries), including:
- Intrastat reporting with tariff classification (for EU)
- Tracking of MRNs (customs declaration numbers)
- Selection of freight forwarders (road, sea, air, courier), including: requesting freight quotes, assigning shipping orders
- Preparing required shipping documents and processing of direct shipments (especially coordination of document preparation and scheduling)
- Maintaining SAP Data including: Maintenance of material master data in SAP related to foreign trade regulations (e.g., customs tariff classification) and SAP material master data regarding origin definitions and classification of potential export license requirements
- Supporting procurement in obtaining foreign trade data from suppliers
- Review and accounting of incoming invoices for packaging and transportation
- Handling of letter of credit transactions
Additional Tasks (as needed):
- Application, management, and deadline monitoring of export licenses Ex-port control management
- Processing orders requiring export licenses
- Acting as deputy for the Air Cargo Security Officer Known Consignor status
- Conducting sanctions list screening assessments
- Conducting internal training sessions, e.g., on export control, dangerous goods, Incoterms
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
- Relevant trainings in required field
- Good understanding of the global customs compliance environment and export clearance, rules and regulations with skills to translate those to clear business requirements and concrete actions
- Experience of min 5 years working with customs compliance related challenges and proven track record of solving those
- Willingness to solve challenging situations with positive reinforcement to ensure sustainable internal and external stakeholder relationships
- Demonstrated experience engaging and contracting freight forwarding companies
- Experience in Team leader tole with strong customer service attitude with the ability to work also effectively independently
- Experience in working within a global and multi-cultural environment
- Fluent written and spoken English and German with good presentation and communication skills
