Data Quality Management:
The Data stewards in Kardex are responsible for monitoring and maintaining data quality. They work to identify data quality issues, inconsistencies, and inaccuracies, and take steps to rectify these problems. This will involve defining data quality standards, collaborating with data stakeholders, and implementing data cleansing processes.
Metadata Management:
Data Stewards create and manage Master data, which includes information about the data such as its source, meaning, lineage, and usage within the associate E2E business processes. This helps users understand the context of the data, ensuring its proper interpretation and usage.
Data Classification and Categorization:
Data stewards help classify and categorize data based on its sensitivity, criticality, and usage. This assists in applying appropriate security measures and access controls to protect sensitive information.
Data Lineage and Documentation:
Data Stewards write and maintain documentation that outlines the flow and transformation of data across systems and processes. This explains where data comes from, how it is transformed, and where it is used, to monitor and maintain compliancy and allow for structured auditing, and troubleshooting.
Data Access and Security: Data stewards work with information security teams to ensure that proper access controls are in place. They define who can access and modify specific data and enforce data security policies to prevent unauthorized access.
Data Usage and Monitoring:
Data Stewards track how data is being used and monitor its performance. This helps identify patterns of usage, potential bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
Data Governance Policy Enforcement:
Data Stewards enforce data governance policies and guidelines established by Kardex. Data Stewards educate data users about these policies and ensure that data-related processes align with them.
Collaboration and Communication:
Stewards facilitate communication and collaboration between various stakeholders, including data owners, users, IT teams, and business units. This ensures a shared understanding of data requirements, standards, and objectives.
Issue Resolution:
When data-related issues arise, data stewards are responsible for investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving these issues promptly. They work to prevent similar issues from occurring in the future. Issues are reported through a ticketing system to support Incident- and Problem management.
Continuous Improvement:
Data Stewards participate in the continuous improvement of data governance practices. They analyze feedback, monitor trends, and suggest enhancements to data management processes and policies.
