At Focused Energy, we are developing NeoLyte, a breakthrough initiative that pioneers compact, laser-driven radiation sources (LDRS) based on high-power laser technology. These dual-mode sources combine MeV X-rays and fast neutrons in a single system. The platform is modular and enables real-time, non-destructive inspection of materials, even when those that are complex or shielded.
NeoLyte’s technology addresses critical challenges across nuclear waste analysis, contraband detection, infrastructure inspection, and medical isotope production. With its unique combination of resolution, material specificity, and deployment flexibility, LDRS opens up new possibilities far beyond conventional systems.
We bring together a cross-disciplinary team of laser and plasma physicists, engineers, and AI experts. We are building our first pilot facility in Biblis (Germany), with the goal to reach market readiness and commercial deployment quite soon.
Be part of shaping this deep-tech venture from the ground up! We are seeking a Computer Vision Engineer with expertise in image reconstruction and machine learning to help turn complex data into actionable insights. You’ll work at the intersection of imaging, physics, and software-designing algorithms, training models, and deploying robust solutions that turn raw detector data into high-quality images for industrial applications.
What you’ll do:
Develop and optimize image processing pipelines for raw X-ray data, including denoising, artifact correction, and stitching.
Design and implement CT reconstruction algorithms (e.g., FBP, SART/SIRT) for high-performance tomography.
Build and deploy production-ready AI models for defect detection, segmentation, and material classification.
Define logic and functional requirements for automated control and stabilization using system data (e.g., laser diagnostics, tracking systems).
Validate algorithm and model performance under real-world conditions to meet industrial accuracy and reliability standards.
Integrate image analysis solutions with product hardware and software systems, defining robust APIs and data contracts.
Take ownership of project deliverables from experimentation through deployment, collaborating across disciplines to align with system-level objectives.
Who you are:
5+ years of hands-on experience in industrial-grade or medical image processing and algorithm development for real-world applications.
Strong knowledge of CT reconstruction techniques, raw detector data handling, denoising, artifact correction, and image stitching.
4+ years of experience with neural networks, including training and deploying deep learning models using PyTorch or TensorFlow.
Proven track record of deploying machine learning models (e.g., U-Net, YOLO) into production for inspection, segmentation, or classification tasks.
Proficiency in Python and modern MLOps tools for model versioning, testing, and deployment.
Experience leading your own projects, managing timelines, and aligning results to broader system integration goals.
Proficiency in English, Germany based preferred, ability to travel to Darmstadt (Hessia) on a regular basis.
